About

GridDiscount is a small editorial site that helps Canadian households choose smart home security gear without wading through spec sheets and marketing claims.

What we do

We write buying guides that start with the questions real homeowners ask: will it survive a prairie winter, how often will I be changing batteries, can my kids and parents use it, and what happens to my data? We read manufacturer specifications, product documentation, support FAQs and owner feedback, then summarise what matters in plain language.

When we recommend a product, we explain why and we list the drawbacks alongside the strengths. We only state facts we can find in official product information or that are clearly labelled as owner feedback.

How we make money

GridDiscount is a commercial website. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy a product after clicking them. This does not change the price you pay. Commissions help cover the cost of running the site. You can read more in our Disclaimer.

Our editorial principles

• No invented test results, ratings or reviews.
• Prices are given as “at time of writing” and may change; always check the retailer.
• Drawbacks and compatibility limits are listed, not hidden.
• We update guides when products or prices change significantly.
